Viral Tags, Viral Links, Viral Icons… Is it Legal??
Just a few days ago, I’ve noticed that a lot of bloggers have copy and pasted this “Viral links” to their blogs as an entry… At first I’ve made some few searches about it to know if it’s legal or if other bloggers got banned because of this post…
Just today I found a post about this:
A few days ago, I noticed in my WordPress Dashboard that my “Incoming Links” section was not updating. Come to find out that it was 2 days and 3 posts after my post about the ViralTags Train…
Anyone here got the same problem???? Please let me know… I am just getting started to become active as a blogger and I don’t want my blog to get banned because of this viral links…

Hi, my Incomming links hasnt been updating itself for a bout a week now. This is just a glitch with technorati and i expec tit to take a while for these things to be ironed out. To answer your question if viral tags/links is legal then yes its legal but its only a numers game. It has increased my technorati rakining to sub 5k but it doesnt deliver any traffic!

I wouldn’t say it’s “not legal”. I’m sure it is fine with respect to the law. Whether or not Technorati, Google, Alexa, and any other stat sites will discount those links remains to be seen. There have been several other trains in the last year that bring similar results (Alexa redirect, MyBlogLog community, Technorati favorites, RSS feed, etc), and those haven’t brought on any negative results so far either.

Indeed. Well, after pinging Technorati directly from their site last week, I haven’t had any problems. The updated list within my WordPress Dashboard is working now as well.
It’s considered spamming here.
I’ve heard from an individual that major search engines like Google and Yahoo is going to penalized anyone who’s using these viral tags links and other forms of viral trains unless we get rid of them and not use them anymore.
